Universal Starrs provides dance instruction, focusing on technique and competitive dance. Our team's dance styles include tap, lyrical, hip hop, and jazz. In addition to our teams, we offer duet/trio and solo opportunities in competitive dance. We also provide vocal training for those on a competitive performance level, or for those who want to learn the art of singing just for fun.
Team membership is by audition only. Our annual audition is held in late Spring (April-May).
Dance technique training is a priority for each student's dance experience. Therefore, it is mandatory that each student be enrolled in technique classes (ballet training is a prerequisite) prior to auditioning for our competition teams.
Each dance season typically consists of three to four competitions. In addition to the competitions in the Knoxville area, we have traveled to Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Nashville. Other community performances include the Foothills Fall Festival, Fantasy of Trees, and the Oak Ridge Secret City Festival. Additionally, our liturgical team performs at local area churches throughout the season.
Our goal is to provide our students with superior instruction, while teaching Christian principles which will follow them much further than their adolescent years.
